Women’s Intermediate Tech Skills Clinic – Santa Cruz, CA

April 26 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

$273.00

Ready to feel more confident on technical terrain?

Join Sylvie and Emily from Sweet Skills for a 3.5-hour intermediate clinic designed to help you build control, consistency, and confidence when the trail gets a little more spicy.

We’ll focus on the fundamentals that make a big difference — body position, braking control, and smart line choice — so you can roll through features, navigate loose sections, and ride mild technical terrain with more ease. You’ll learn how to approach obstacles with a plan, stay balanced through uneven sections, and link features together smoothly instead of reacting at the last second.

Sylvie and Emily bring decades of coaching experience from BC, where they lead women’s skills clinics and multi-day backcountry camps. Emily recently rode for the Juliana Enduro Team and has spent over a decade guiding backcountry bike adventures. Sylvie is the founder of Sweet Skills, based in Pemberton, BC, and has been coaching and developing women’s mountain bike programs for more than 20 years.

This clinic is perfect for intermediate riders who are comfortable on blue trails and want to feel more relaxed and capable when things get rooty, rocky, or slightly steeper.

  • More Details

    MEET UP LOCATION:

Meet up spot and reminder details on what to bring will be sent out at least 1 week in advance by email.

    GROUPS:

Participants will be grouped together by their ability level in cases where we are more than 1 coach.  The questionnaire that you fill out during registration will guide us on where to place you. Please sign up for the appropriate clinic for your ability and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We do our best to match similar levels together, but given the nature of the sport there will always be some differences in ability and fitness levels within every group.  These differences can offer a great opportunity to peer learn – the most advanced rider can always benefit from ‘slowing down and getting back to basics’ and a less experienced rider can progress from riding with more advanced riders in a supportive environment.

    GEAR NEEDED:

Bike: All-mountain, enduro or XC bike in good working order.  Protective Gear/Attire: The following is mandatory for this clinic; helmet, knee pads, and full finger gloves.  Elbow pads, and other protective gear not listed above are optional.  We highly recommend dressing in appropriate bike clothes for the weather that day, and packing/wearing extra layers just in case – we ride rain or shine! Participants must also also have a multi-tool to repair anything on their bike as well as tube, tire levers and pump.  *Please ride in shoes/compatible pedals that you normally ride in – this is not the time to be learning a new system. For example learning to ride clipped in or vice versa.

    SNACKS & WATER

Please bring snacks and enough water to sustain you through the session.

    WAIVERS:

Each guest will be required to sign a Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement at time of registration, prior to start of trip. Click here to view and fill in the online waiver at time of booking.  Only one waiver per season needs to be filled out (if you’re doing more than 1 event with us). Participants are required to inform Sweet Skills of any allergies, medical conditions or injuries that might affect their riding or health and any medications taken.

    AGE:

Minimum required age is 18 for our camps and clinics.

Every attempt will be made to adhere to our scheduled itinerary, we do not plan to make changes ahead of time. However, participants acknowledge and willingly accept the possibility of unexpected changes to our route, timings and itinerary. Safety issues, weather and/or any extenuating circumstances beyond our control may contribute to this possibility. Should these changes affect your pre and/or post-tour travel plans, Sweet Skills will not be responsible for additional expenses incurred by guests (non-refundable airline tickets, rental cars, hotel reservations, etc.). No refunds will be given for itinerary changes. We ride rain or shine! Riding in the mountains means we can encounter variable weather at any time and participants must be prepared for this. Weather can also change very last minute, therefore we do not cancel trips with forecasted rain or smoke unless our accommodation and transportation partners are shut down.
