Ride and Explore the Wild Backcountry
Have you always wanted to explore BC’s backcountry and test yourself with longer, adventurous rides? This all-women’s mountain bike camp is designed just for you!
Sweet Skills and Tyax Adventures have proudly partnered for over 10 years to bring you a unique women’s-only backcountry mountain bike experience in the breathtaking South Chilcotin Mountains. Tailored for strong intermediate riders, this 3-day adventure combines alpine singletrack, remote wilderness, and expert coaching from Sweet Skills’ supportive female instructors.
Your journey begins with a floatplane drop at Warner Lake, launching you into one of BC’s most iconic MTB zones. Each day features scenic climbs, hike-a-bike sections, and rewarding descents through meadows, forests, and wildflower-filled valleys. Expect 4–6 hours of daily riding on technical, remote trails with incredible views around every turn.
Evenings are spent at Spruce Camp, a cozy wilderness retreat with canvas-walled tents, raised beds, hearty home-cooked meals, bonfire stories, and the opportunity for a refreshing dip in Spruce Lake.
Backcountry Riding with a View
This unforgettable trip begins with a scenic floatplane ride to Warner Lake, launching you into a stunning alpine setting. But don’t let the flight fool you— the Chilcotins will have you earning your turns with pedal-powered climbs, adventurous hike-a-bike sections, and unforgettable descents.
This 3 day trip starts with a scenic plane ride to the beautiful Warner lake. From here the backcountry adventure begins! Don’t let the plane ride fool you, the Chilcotins will have you earning your turns 😉 Sweet Skills coaches will help you tackle some longer challenging climbs and an adventurous hike-a-bike up a mountain pass. You will then be rewarded with some of the most epic descents on signature single track through rolling grasses and meadows.
Nights in the Wild
Riding is only part of the experience. Your backcountry basecamp at Spruce Camp is the perfect place to unwind after big days on the trail. Cozy canvas walled tents with comfy raised beds, home cooked meals and nights by the bonfire await us at the end of our adventurous days out. 2 nights will be spend enjoying the wilderness at Spruce Camp and where we can completely unwind. A short walk to Spruce Lake is a must for a jump in the lake! Two nights in the wilderness will leave you rested, reset, and reconnected with nature.
The Sweet Skills Explorer camp in the Chilcotins was absolutely magical. I hadn’t done a girls bike trip before with 9 other women and 2 guides and boy did this deliver. The company was top notch, the accommodations and food were perfection, the coaching was just enough to give us something to work on but not so much that it distracted from getting on the bikes and having fun…and the biking – WOW. Challenging, scenic and 100% worth all the sweat. Highly recommend. Can’t wait for my next Sweet Skills camp! Brooke

Day 1: Welcome, Float Plane, Ride to Spruce Camp
Meet your coaches and the group at Tyax Adventures base in the morning at 7 or 8am (TBD) to start the adventure with a plane ride to the alpine. Get your cameras ready as the flight from Tyaughten Lake to Warner Lake is not only gorgeous but will showcase some of the terrain that we’ll be covering on our rides. From Warner Lake we ride rolling singletrack with some technical sections, great flowing descents and some short but challenging climbs, all the way to Spruce Camp. Once at camp there are endless activity options for you to explore. Still have energy? Try your hand at catching some fish in the lake or go explore the surrounding trails by foot. Just want to just relax? Have some chill time on the dock or by the bonfire…. or do it all! We will cap off our day with an outdoor led stretch session to help you loosen up from the ride and relax even more before appies and dinner.
Distance: 18 km, 4-5hrs
Elevation Gain/Loss: +525m/ -750m
Day 2: Windy Pass Adventure
Wake up in the fresh air and peaceful setting at Spruce Camp and sip coffee as you watch the sun come up and have breakfast made for you. An outdoor mobility session will limber us up for the day. Bring your packed lunch with you since today we are eating at the top of a mountain pass! Ride rolling singletrack alongside the lake then head up into the hills to reach our destination of Windy Pass. There will be some hike-a-biking up to the pass with a few breaks in the alpine meadows to catch your breath and have a snack. You’ll be treated to mindblowing views in all direction once at the pass! Perhaps we might be lucky enough to see some mountain goats along the scree slops. After lunch and some photos we had back down the same trail and hoot and holler as we enjoy the descent that we worked so hard for! Back at Camp you have the opportunity to unwind at the lake or by the campfire or if you still have energy take a wander on the trails above the lake for more amazing views. Stretch it out by the campfire in an afternoon led stretch session, enjoy some appetizers and chill out till dinner time. An evening campfire under the stars is always a great way to wrap up an awesome day in the Chilcotins.
Distance: 16 km, 4-5hrs *1.5hrs hike-a-bike

Day 3
Wake up in the mountains and enjoy your last morning in camp. After breakfast and a mobility warm up, we’ll hit the trail with a short technical ride around the lake before getting out into the gorgeous Gun Meadows! Here we will have some great photo opportunities and will get to use all the skills we learned over the weekend to navigate some of the most fun flowing trail in the area. After the open Gun Meadows we get to the Gun Creek trail and follow this rolling terrain through twisty aspen trees, smooth floored pine forests, short technical climbs, and fast flowy trail following the Gun Creek. At the end of the trail our shuttle will be waiting to whisk us back up to Tyax Base. Say farewell to your group, collect some sweet swag from the sponsors and have a safe journey home!
