Happy Times

May 12 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

$105.00

Finally learn how to climb uphill switchbacks and mild technical with a smile on your face – cuz let’s be real, sometimes it’s not always so happy!

Happy Trail serves as the gateway climb the super fun trails of the Mackenzie network, but be prepared for a bit of a grind! Fear not, though, as we’ll have you mastering those uphill technical sections and pesky corners that have been your arch-nemesis. The skills you’ll gain here will translate seamlessly to any uphill singletrack.

During our session, we’ll be honing in on crucial elements like gearing, braking, and body positioning. With these techniques in your arsenal, we’ll get you to the top and have you ready for a well-deserved descent! Depending on timing and conditions, we may opt for Lower Mackenzie or Radio Tower – either trail choice is a win in the fun department! Our coaches will provide brief pointers for the descent, ensuring everyone finishes with a smile on their face.

This clinic is great for a BegIntermediate to Low Intermediate rider looking for uphill tips.  Please note that the majority of this session is focused on climbing, and thus will be very little coaching for the downhill.  If you have not ridden Lower Mackenzie or Radio Tower before please let us know when registering.
*Happy Trail is a blue accent trail in Pemberton and is more challenging than the Lost Lake Whistler trails*

  • More Details

    MEET UP LOCATION:

Meet up spot and reminder details on what to bring will be sent out at least 1 week in advance by email.

    GROUPS:

Participants will be grouped together by their ability level in cases where we are more than 1 coach.  The questionnaire that you fill out during registration will guide us on where to place you. Please sign up for the appropriate clinic for your ability and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We do our best to match similar levels together, but given the nature of the sport there will always be some differences in ability and fitness levels within every group.  These differences can offer a great opportunity to peer learn – the most advanced rider can always benefit from ‘slowing down and getting back to basics’ and a less experienced rider can progress from riding with more advanced riders in a supportive environment.

    GEAR NEEDED:

Bike: All-mountain or XC bike in good working order.  No Ebikes.  Protective Gear/Attire: The following is mandatory for this clinic; helmet, knee pads, and full finger gloves.  Elbow pads, and other protective gear not listed above are optional.  We highly recommend dressing in appropriate bike clothes for the weather that day, and packing/wearing extra layers just in case – we ride rain or shine! Participants must also also have a multi-tool to repair anything on their bike as well as tube, tire levers and pump.  *Please ride in shoes/compatible pedals that you normally ride in – this is not the time to be learning a new system. For example learning to ride clipped in or vice versa.

    SNACKS & WATER

Please bring snacks and enough water to sustain you through this 3 hour session.

    WAIVERS:

Each guest will be required to sign a Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement at time of registration, prior to start of trip. Click here to view and fill in the online waiver at time of booking.  Participants are required to inform Sweet Skills of any allergies, medical conditions or injuries that might affect their riding or health and any medications taken.

    AGE:

Minimum required age is 18 for our camps and clinics. Requests can be made on a case-by-case basis. It’s recommended for youth between the ages of 14 and 18 to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
