Kelowna Intermediate Tech Skills – 4hrs Friday

Kelowna Intermediate Tech Skills – 4hrs Friday

May 2, 2025 @ 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Check back Winter 2025 for May dates, registration starts Feb 15th.

Boost your confidence with a few extra skills in your back pocket!

The Crawford trails offer tons of opportunities for learning on the fun and scenic trails high above Okanagan Lake. Rock slabs, loose descents, switchback climbs, uphill tech moves, and roll downs are just some of the moves you’ll conquer with us on this day.

Start this 4hr session with some skill drills, such as: body position, cornering, braking without skidding, rolling drops, and pedalling wheel lifts. After we’re feeling good about our new skills, we’ll take it to the trails and put it all into practice with lots of sessioning, encouragement and of course a lot of cheering!

This clinic is great for Intermediate riders wanting to dial in some fundamental XC skills so they can progress to the next level and feel more confident on harder blue trails.

Be ready for a lot of learning and riding, bring snacks, lots of water, appropriate clothing, and lots of energy 😉

  • More Details

    MEET UP LOCATION:

Meet up spot will be at the picnic table at the entrance to the Crawford trailhead just above the parking lots. Reminder details on what to bring will be sent out at least 1 week in advance by email.

    GROUPS:

Participants will be grouped together by their ability level in cases where we are more than 1 coach.  The questionnaire that you fill out during registration will guide us on where to place you. Please sign up for the appropriate clinic for your ability and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We do our best to match similar levels together, but given the nature of the sport there will always be some differences in ability and fitness levels within every group.  These differences can offer a great opportunity to peer learn – the most advanced rider can always benefit from ‘slowing down and getting back to basics’ and a less experienced rider can progress from riding with more advanced riders in a supportive environment.

    GEAR NEEDED:

Bike: All-mountain or XC bike in good working order.  Ebikes are allowed at this clinic, please make note of it during your registration.  Protective Gear/Attire: The following is mandatory for this clinic; helmet, knee pads, and full finger gloves.  Elbow pads, and other protective gear not listed above are optional.  We highly recommend dressing in appropriate bike clothes for the weather that day, and packing/wearing extra layers just in case – we ride rain or shine! Participants must also also have a multi-tool to repair anything on their bike as well as tube, tire levers and pump.  *Please ride in shoes/compatible pedals that you normally ride in – this is not the time to be learning a new system. For example learning to ride clipped in or vice versa.

    LUNCH:

Lunch is not provided so please bring your lunch, enough water for the day and snacks to keep you energized. We’ll be taking a lunch break close to the parking lot so you can keep your lunch in your car in a cooler.

    WAIVERS:

Each guest will be required to sign a Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risks and Indemnity Agreement at time of registration, prior to start of trip. Click here to view and fill in the online waiver at time of booking.  Participants are required to inform Sweet Skills of any allergies, medical conditions or injuries that might affect their riding or health and any medications taken.

    AGE:

Minimum required age is 18 for our camps and clinics. Requests can be made on a case-by-case basis. It’s recommended for youth between the ages of 14 and 18 to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
