Ready to take your riding to the next level and unleash the full potential of your mountain biking skills? If so, our 8th annual Valemount Skills Weekend for 2025 is the event you’ve been waiting for! Nestled in the heart of one of BC’s most exciting trail networks, Valemount promises an unforgettable experience that will leave you coming back for more.
This is an action-packed 2-day camp with a private shuttle arranged so we can maximize our time on the trails. Master a toolkit of downhill skills as we progress through the bike park’s fantastic features. Mornings are dedicated to honing key fundamentals, focusing on body positioning, timing, and line choices, all designed to boost your confidence for tackling exciting in-trail maneuvers like bermed corners, drops, and tabletop jumps.
The remainder of each day is all about applying what you’ve learned as you flow through Valemount’s flowy and technical trails. And the best part? We’ve got private shuttles ready to whisk you to the top, so you can enjoy more downhill action without the uphill grind or waiting in shuttle lines.
This camp is tailor-made for intermediate to advanced riders seeking to improve their downhill skills, whether you’re new to jumps and drops or simply looking to finesse your technique. Our Level 2 coaches ensure that you benefit from small group focus, guaranteeing plenty of personalized instruction to help you reach your goals.

MEET UP LOCATION:
Valemount Bike Park parking lot on 5 Mile road. Meet at the picnic table under the trees across from the parking lot. Meet up spot and reminder details on what to bring will be sent out at least 1 week in advance by email.
GROUPS:
Participants will be grouped together by their ability level in cases where we are more than 1 coach. The questionnaire that you fill out during registration will guide us on where to place you. Please sign up for the appropriate clinic for your ability and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We do our best to match similar levels together, but given the nature of the sport there will always be some differences in ability and fitness levels within every group. These differences can offer a great opportunity to peer learn – the most advanced rider can always benefit from ‘slowing down and getting back to basics’ and a less experienced rider can progress from riding with more advanced riders in a supportive environment.
GEAR NEEDED:
Bike: All-mountain or enduro in good working order with 150mm+ of travel (downhill bikes are suitable as well). Protective Gear/Attire: The following is mandatory for this clinic; Full face helmet, knee pads, and full finger gloves. Elbow pads, and other protective gear not listed above are recommended but optional. We highly recommend dressing in appropriate bike clothes for the weather that day, and packing/wearing extra layers just in case. Participants must also also have a multi-tool to repair anything on their bike as well as tube, tire levers and pump. *Please ride in shoes/compatible pedals that you normally ride in – this is not the time to be learning a new system. For example learning to ride clipped in or vice versa. Food/Water: Please pack a lunch, lots of snacks and enough water to sustain you through 6 hours on your bike.
SHUTTLES:
To maximize our learning/riding time we will use Peak Shuttles when available (hopefully for 2-3 laps). In the event that the line ups are long or we miss a pick up time we go to plan B which is to self-shuttle. The registration form includes a question asking if you have a suitable vehicle for shuttling and if you would be willing to use it. The road only takes about 5-10 mins to get up / down and is in fairly good driving condition. *Please bring $15-20 cash (or credit card) to cover shuttle fees with Peak Shuttles.
VARDA MEMBERSHIP:
Sweet Skills donates $5 from every registration to the local trail association! But we highly recommend becoming a Valemount Bike Park member if you can! This is hands down the best way to support the trails, as your membership goes directly to trail maintenance, bike park planning and creating more awesome trails for everyone to ride! Learn more about becoming a member HERE
